Dalmarnock Smartbridge

The Dalmarnock Smart Bridge carries a pedestrian walkway and cycle path across the River Clyde, as well as carrying a range of power, telecommunications and IT connections over the river. It connects the areas of Shawfield and Rutherglen, aiding in the regeneration of both banks of the river. It forms part of the extensive Clyde Gateway regeneration which happened at the time of the Commonwealth Games. A substantial element of the costs of the SMART bridge have been met by almost £2m of support from the European Regional Development Fund and Glasgow and South Lanarkshire Councils took responsibility for the operation and maintenance aspects of the bridge after its completion in 2014.
